Dear Exhibitor,
The show will be opening its gates to the press in a matter of days, at 7.00 am on Thursday 2 October, the countdown is nearly over and everybody is on their marks, ready to go. The lights are all green for this 2008 edition: the entire exhibition area has been reserved, over 90 world previews have been announced and the all-out advertising campaign is set to hit its peak. Over 11,000 journalists are expected, from 100 countries! Let the festivities begin! Thanks to all of you. Thank you for your trust; we look forward to seeing you at the show.

Since 18 September, the Technical Department has been available at the main entrance to Hall 1 Porte de Versailles and as from 25 September, the General Organiser will be welcoming you on the mezzanine of Hall 1. There will therefore no longer be any staff to hand in our offices in central Paris as of then. All your goods must be deliver at the exhibition park Porte de Versailles, on your own stand only. If you have not already done so, you can now get your exhibitor badges, invitations and car park passes there. You can get your work and services badges from the Technical Department.

Erratum displaying CO2 emissions: Contrary to what we stated in our memo to manufacturers on 29 July, you are required to display fuel consumption and CO2 emissions for category M1 vehicles (rather than N1). Surprise inspections may be conducted at the show by the ADEME (French Environment and Energy Management Agency). This regulation does not apply to concept cars and prototypes.

Activities
New features for 2008:
• “Electric vehicle” trial track: on Terrace D4 (located between Halls 4 and 8), where visitors can check out the potential of electrical energy, with several models available for test runs, from cars not requiring a driving licence, to roadsters, not forgetting city cars and small off-road vehicles.
• Introduction to Eco-driving: organised in partnership with BP Ultimate and five manufacturers (BMW, Fiat, Ford, Peugeot and Renault). Visitors can find out about basic techniques and driving behaviour to use less fuel and cut back on pollution, on a 20-minute urban circuit, with an accompanying specialised instructor. Venue: Terrace H (at the back of Hall 3).
• Disney Pixar Cars event: The celebrated animation firm has chosen our show as the venue in Paris for its European roadshow that started in Amsterdam. Youngsters and parents alike will have an opportunity to be photographed with Lightning McQueen, Sally and Mater, the world-famous, life-size stars of the blockbuster Cars. And win loads of prizes and merchandising. Disney Pixar is also partnering the children’s day-care unit in Hall 2/2.

FFSA electric karting track (Hall 7) for youngsters aged 14 to 22
All these events are free of charge for our visitors.

New services
• Bar code and print@home: For the first time, all the exhibitor and visitor passes (aside from VIP invitations) feature a bar code for computerised checks at the entrances.
Visitors can also buy their tickets online and print it out at home (print@home).
Visitors will appreciate the smoother, more efficient and less time-consuming ticket-buying process!
• Concierge service
Organised with the Paris Regional Council for Tourism, (CRT IDF), and located in Hall 2/2, a concierge service and a tourist information desk are available to exhibitors and visitors, providing free services and answers to all sorts of queries: hotel reservation, transport reservation, car rental, outings, excursions, cabarets, tourist information etc. Don’t hesitate to ask.
• Moto Taxis
Our partner, Motocab, the motorcycle transport specialist, will be offering its services free of charge to journalists and exhibitors. Motocab will be available on Terrace T at the Paris Motor Show to take you to any destination in Paris intra-muros. Transfers to Charles-de-Gaulle or Orly airports are possible, for bearers of a press card or exhibitor badge only and subject to availability.

Technical info
• NB: Given the special opening time at 7.00 am on the first Press Day, your stand must be set up by 7.00 am on 2 October.
• Technical Department: Since Thursday 18 September, the show’s Technical Department has been set up near the General Organiser’s Office, at the main entrance to Hall 1, to assist you in the setup of your stands and provide solutions to all your logistics issues at the show.

• Recap of technical passes:
Press service cards: For service providers (caterers, presenters, musicians etc.) who need to work on your stand on 2 and 3 October from 9.00 am to 12.00 midnight.
These cards are sold at €10 excl. taxes a piece.
Service cards (caretakers, cleaners etc.): For night-time access, from 4 to 19 October through to 9.30 am.
Work badges: For your service providers during the stand setup/teardown phases. Schedule here
If you have not already got your passes, remember that they are to be obtained by the exhibitor and not by the service provider, from the Technical Department, Hall 1.
NB: Your “exhibitor” badges give you the right to access the show at all times, as from 2 October, except for the VIP gala night, on 2 October, from 8.00 pm to 12.00 midnight. |
